Illustrated portrait of Jason Larkfield

Hi, I'm Jason Larkfield.

I'm a teacher, school IT technician, and tech enthusiast who runs a school esports program. I got into tech as a kid, upgrading our family PC with more memory, a bigger hard drive, and new graphics cards, and troubleshooting whatever broke. I write these guides to help parents teach their kids to use AI as a powerful tool, not a replacement for their own critical thinking.

IT pro

The troubleshooting I started learning on our family PC became the foundation of my IT career.

TODOA line about school IT work. No employer named.

Tech enthusiast

I test the settings in these guides on real devices.

Teacher

TODOOne line, in first person, on how teaching shapes the guides.

New to all this? Four calm steps.

You don't need to be a tech expert. Follow these four steps, one evening at a time.

Pix, the helper character from our guides.

Start at step 1. One step at a time is plenty.

  1. Step 1

    Get Up to Speed

Read The Parent's Guide to AI at Home first. It explains the big ideas the rest of the kit builds on, and its one-page "Start Tonight" plan gets you going this evening. Use the Parent Workbook alongside it: its fill-in pages follow the same topics.

  2. Step 2

    Pick Your Child's Age

Each Family Activity Pack fits one age band: 5–8, 9–12, or 13–17. Ages 5–8 get drawing, sorting, and pretend-play pages. Ages 9–12 get sorts, puzzles, and a "True or Made Up" score sheet. Ages 13–17 get challenges, planners, and pages for thinking things through. Have kids in more than one age band? Use each child's own age-band Activity Pack.

  3. Step 3

    Set Family Rules Together

The Family AI Agreement walks you through a short family meeting, about 20 minutes, where you choose your AI rules, write them down, and sign them together.

  4. Step 4

    Practice and Talk

Pull a conversation card from the Talk & Print Pack at dinner, or try one page from your child's Activity Pack. One card a day is plenty. Most activity pages take 10 to 20 minutes.

The "Never Type" List
  • Full name, address, or phone number
  • School, teachers, or class schedule
  • Passwords and codes
  • Photos of you, family, or friends
  • Exact location or plans
  • Private details about others
  • Family money info
  • Health details or big personal problems

Would I shout it across a crowded park? If not, don't type it.

Questions parents ask

Who are these guides for?

Parents and caregivers of kids ages 5 to 17. You don't need to be a tech expert. Everything is written in plain English for grown-ups, with activities you do together with your kids.

What exactly do I get?

PDF files you download and print at home. After checkout, your download links arrive by email. The AI at Home Family Kit is 7 PDFs: The Parent's Guide to AI at Home plus six printable companions.

Can I print copies for my kids?

Yes. You may print or copy the pages for use in your own home.

Do my kids need an account?

No. Kids never create an account, and this site never collects children's information. Activities that use an AI tool are always done with a grown-up, on a parent's existing account or a demo. Check the tool's age rules first.

Will the guides be updated?

Apps and age rules change fast. The Parent's Guide and the Talk & Print Pack show the date their key facts were checked, and the kit shows you how to check a tool's current rules yourself. Your purchase includes free updates to this edition. If we make fixes or improvements to Edition 1, you'll get the updated files at no extra cost.

What happens to the price after Dec 4?

The $29 launch price runs through 11:59 PM PT on Dec 4, 2026. From Dec 5, the AI at Home Family Kit is $49. The Parent's Guide on its own stays $19.99. Your purchase includes free updates to this edition. If we make fixes or improvements to Edition 1, you'll get the updated files at no extra cost.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If you're not happy with your purchase for any reason, email jason@pixelwisefamily.com within 14 days of buying and we'll refund you. Read the full refund policy.
